Stories and highlights
There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.
A year at our school
Our school takes great pride in being an active part of the local community, hosting and participating in a wide range of events throughout the year.
From celebrating Grandparents Day, Father’s Day, and Mother’s Day with special assemblies and classroom activities, holding Easter Hat Parades, and Book Week Parades to honouring important occasions like ANZAC Day, NAIDOC week and Remembrance Day, we value the opportunity to bring people together.
During Public Education Week, families are invited to visit open classrooms and experience learning in action. Our choir visits local nursing homes and performs at community venues such as Seagulls, spreading joy through music.
Students at our school proudly represent us in a wide range of sporting and performance events throughout the year. From showcasing teamwork and confidence in Choral Speaking and Far North Coast Dance, to demonstrating skill and determination in Athletics, Swimming, and Cross Country, our students continually strive for excellence.
Many also compete in PSSA sporting events, including touch football, rugby league, soccer, cricket, netball and basketball, where they display great sportsmanship, effort, and pride in wearing our school colours. Their enthusiasm and commitment reflect the strong spirit of participation and achievement that defines our school community.
Our school offers a wide variety of excursions and incursions throughout the year, all designed to enhance classroom learning and align with the curriculum. These hands-on experiences allow students to deepen their understanding of topics in engaging and meaningful ways.
Highlights include the Year 4 three-day adventure to Camp Goodenough, where students develop teamwork and resilience through outdoor challenges, and the Year 6 four-day excursion to the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane, which combines educational experiences with lasting memories as they celebrate their final year of primary school. Each activity provides valuable opportunities for growth, connection, and real-world learning beyond the classroom.
The year concludes with our much-loved End of Year Concert, where students showcase their talents and the community comes together to celebrate another successful year. This special time also includes our Presentation Day Assembly, where we recognise and celebrate the outstanding achievements and efforts of our students across all areas of school life.
As the year draws to a close, we farewell our graduating Year 6 students with a touching Guard of Honour, where the entire school lines the pathway to cheer them on as they take their final walk through our gates — a proud tradition that marks the end of their primary school journey.
I couldn’t be happier with the caring and supportive environment that Bilambil Public School provides for my child. The teachers are dedicated, communication is excellent, and my child is thriving both academically and socially.
